Wisconsin Teen Involved in Accident Yesterday
Posted 21 August 2008
A chase through downtown Manchester
yesterday afternoon, Wednesday, Aug. 20, ended in a one-vehicle crash
across from Regional Medical Center.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, Jonathan Morehead, 16, of
Platteville, Wis., allegedly stole fuel from a gas station and then
refused to pull over for officers.
Witnesses at the scene report the Manchester Police Department's
unmarked squad car was in pursuit of the 1995 Toyota Camry shortly
before 3 p.m. Wednesday.
The vehicle was westbound on Highway 13, just over the Maquoketa River
bridge, swerving around other westbound vehicles, when Morehead lost
control and struck a tree in front of Regional Medical Center's Home
Care/Hospice of Comfort office, located at 712 West Main Street.
Morehead was injured in the accident and transported to Regional
Medical Center for treatment. His condition is unknown.
The accident blocked Highway 13 for some time Wednesday afternoon and
traffic was rerouted through Manchester.
An investigation into the incident is continuing.
