More Charges Filed Against Agriprocessor Supervisor
Posted 20 August 2008
Juan Carlos Guerrero-Espinoza, 35,
a former supervisor at the Agriprocessor meat processing plant in
Postville now faces additional federal charges.
Yesterday, Aug. 19, Guerrero-Espinoza was charged with conspiracy to
hire and aiding and abetting the hiring of illegal immigrants. He is
schedule to appear today, Wednesday, in U.S. District Court in Cedar
Rapids.
Guerrero-Espinoza allegedly approved the hiring more than 10 workers
that he knew were illegal immigrants.
Guerrero-Espinoza and Martin De La Rosa-Loera, another former
supervisor at Agriprocessors, already face federal charges of aiding
and abetting another in knowingly possessing, obtaining, accepting and
receiving a resident alien card, knowing the card had been forged,
counterfeited, falsely made or otherwise unlawfully obtained.
Both men filed briefs last week asking for a change of venue because of
prejudicial pre-trial publicity. They are scheduled to remain in
custody until their trial Sept. 15.
