Oelwein Heritage Days Begins Tomorrow

Oelwein Heritage Days will be this
weekend, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 16 and 17.
Included as a part of the celebration are:
6th Annual Large Flea Market at 900 2nd Avenue SE.
Historical Museum tours and events (free admission to museum and flea
market). Lunch stand on grounds. This is a great chance to get in touch
with local heritage and celebrate our past!
Genealogical Society members will be at the Oelwein Public Library, 201
E. Charles, to answer questions and assist with genealogy research on
Saturday only from 11am-5pm.
LouAnn's Quilt Garden & Retreat, 21 E. Charles St., will be open
Saturday 9-5 and Sunday 10-4.
Quilt Show
The 8th Annual Open Quilt Show will be held this weekend at the
Community Plaza by Creative Cut-ups. The show will be open tomorrow,
Saturday, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m. through 4
p.m. The show will feature a Quilt Raffle, Merchant Mall, Quilter's
Challenge, and a display of Vintage Sewing Machines. Admission $3.00.
Italian American Heritage Celebration
Saturday, Aug. 16, the Italian American Heritage Celebration will be
held. Events begin at 10 a.m. at Red Gate Park on West Charles Street
with Bocce ball, Italian food, music and games.
Mass will be celebrated in a ceremony at Woodlawn Cemetery beginning at
4 p.m. An Italian dinner follows at Luigi's Restaurant, 1020 S.
Frederick, with Social Hour beginning at 6 p.m. and a Banquet at 7 p.m.
Door prizes and dance with Tuxedo Junction band will be featured.
