Jeffers Wins State Fair Food Competition Posted 13 August 2008 Lynn Jeffers of Jesup was named the winner in the 2008 Iowa State Fair's "Can & Cook with Mrs. Wage" competition. The contest was judged Tuesday, Aug. 5, just prior to opening day of the state fair. Jeffers took first place, winning a $100 grocery store gift certificate. Entries were judged on taste, appearance and best use of Mrs. Wage’s seasoning. The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center.
