Library Closed for Big Move this Week
Posted 11 August 2008
The Independence Public Library's
old location at the Munson Building, is now closed to the public in
anticipation of the move into their new facility later this week.
Volunteers will begin boxing up library materials today, Monday, Aug.
11, and continue through Wednesday, Aug. 13. The move is anticipated to
take place this weekend Saturday, Aug. 16, and Sunday, Aug. 17.
The delay of the move has allowed necessary shelving at the new
facility to be installed. The weekend move will also allow for more
volunteers to help with the task.
The library may need small and medium sized boxes. If you have any to
share, please contact the library today at 319-334-2470 or simply drop
them off at the old library location at 210 Second Street NE in
Independence.
The new library is located at 805 1st Street E, the former site of the
old hospital in Independence, just west of the historic Lee Mansion,
near East Elementary School.
