Man Arrested on Assault, Weapons Charges Posted 6 August 2008 Law enforcement authorities Monday, Aug. 4, arrested an Independence man on assault and weapons charges following an investigation into an incident that occurred on July 21. Scott Overmann, 29 of Independence, was taken into custody Monday afternoon and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, carrying a dangerous weapon and armed with a dangerous weapon. Overmann was being held in the Buchanan County Jail in Independence. No additional information regarding the incident in question has been  released.
