New City Center for Independence
Posted 4 August 2008
The former Fareway store at 206 2nd
Ave. SW now belongs to the City of Independence as the sale was
recently made official.
The City of Independence plans to renovate the former grocery store
into a new city center.
City officials are looking forward to having many of their department
offices centrally located within the community and under one roof. The
new facility is in good shape and provides the city with about three
acres for growth.
The location also boasts a large and newer parking lot for residents to
use when visiting city offices.
The city will proceed with architectural designs and plans for the
renovation project.
