Celebrate 4th of July in Independence!
Posted 3 July 2008
Be a part of the biggest parade in Northeast Iowa celebrating our Independence! Parade begins at City Hall at 9 a.m.! The theme for 2008 is Extreme Makeover - Independence Edition!

The, after the parade, carry your lawn chair just a few short blocks to Riverwalk Parks for a full-day of music, food and fun and ending with an amazing fireworks display high above the Wapsipinicon River and it is FREE entry to the park.

Independence’s 4th of July Celebration has a reputation for outstanding musical performances. Throughout the day, one talented musical group after another will take the stage. From concert bands to blues and jazz there’s something for everyone—all day in the Riverwalk Parks.

Budweiser Coed Sand Volleyball Tournament - Get your team together now for the Budweiser Coed Sand Volleyball Tournament. Teams compete for the right to be called “Kings of the Sand” by the “King of Beers” and the right to take away cash, Budweiser trophy and championship Bud volleyball. Spots are limited. Contact the chamber for additional information.

The FunZone - Of course there’s plenty to do for the kids too, attractions, games, and tattoos.

The Food - What’s a Fourth of July celebration without great All-American Food! Food vendors will be on hand to take care of any appetite. Pop, bottled water and other cold draft beverages are also available on the grounds.

The Fireworks - You cannot find better fireworks, no where, no how, than the highlight of each Independence Day Celebration high above the Wapsipinicon River. This stunning display is not a secret. The community draws crowds from across the Midwest, East and West Coast and from around the world. People schedule their 4th of July vacation around the Independence celebration!

Once again this year’s fireworks display will be set to music and simulcast locally on Brite 95.3 radio, KQMG-FM.
