Eastern
Iowa Brass Band to Perform July 4
Posted 3 July 2008
Listening to the Eastern Iowa Brass Band in Independence, is the place
to celebrate your 4th of July. With an array of musical entertainment,
activities for people of all ages, exceptional food and drink, and
Iowa’s most dramatic and awe inspiring fireworks high over the
beautiful Wapsipinicon River downtown Independence, you will not be
disappointed.
The band will perform Friday, July 4, from 1 until 2 p.m. in River Walk
Park, downtown Independence. The performance is part of Independence's
weekend long July 4 celebration.
Made up of dedicated, amateur musicians the Eastern Iowa Brass Band is
dedicated to the performance of brass band literature in the style and
tradition of the British brass bands which date back to the early
nineteenth century and still flourish today.
Founded in 1985, the EIBB is the only band of its kind in the state of
Iowa. Audiences throughout the Midwest delight in the fun and
enthusiasm of the EIBB in concert. In their 1900's style costumes, the
band is reminiscent of the 'town band' seen in communities all across
the country 100 years ago.
Members come from a variety of backgrounds, drawn together to share a
fervent dedication to the perfection of the brass band musical
tradition.
The performance Friday is free and everyone is encouraged to attend.
