Fire
at Storm-damaged Fairbank Farm
Posted 2 July 2008
Firefighters were called to the home of James and Bonnie Goeller, 8445
Goeller Road at approximately 4:30 p.m. Sunday, June 29.
The family had been burning debris created by severe storms in the area
May 25 when flames spread to a nearby barn that had also been hit and
damaged by the tornado. Firefighters deemed the barn wasn't salvageable
because of the amount of storm damage it had already sustained.
The Goellers were concerned that the fire might spread to their home,
which was also damaged in the storm, but still habitable. Firefighters
were able to extinguish the blaze and the house was saved.
Volunteer firefighters from Fairbank and Dunkerton spent about an hour
and a half putting the fires out.
