Smoke
Free Air Act, New Iowa Sales Tax Begin Today

Today, Tuesday, July 1, marks the date that the Iowa Smoke Free Air Act
and changes in the state's Sales Tax Code go into effect.
The Iowa Smoke Free Air Act requires 'no smoking' signs to be posted at
every entrance to a public place and outdoor area where smoking is not
allowed. Details of the act can be found at www.IowaSmokefreeAir.gov
Changes in the tax code mean school district local option sales taxes
will now be collected at the state level, changing Iowa's sales tax
from 5 to 6%. Additional information about the change can be found at
