Days Activities Start Today

The Maynard Community Club will sponsor Maynard Days with several
activities scheduled for tonight, Friday, June 27 and this weekend.
This year's Maynard Day's theme is 2008 Farm Olympics.
Grand Marshals are Bob & Lorraine Eldridge
Friday:
7:30p.m. WC Auditorium--Variety Show, which will include the crowning
of Miss Maynard. This year's candidates are:
--Megan Fink daughter of Rick & Denice Fink sponsored by Howard's
Appliance Repair
--Danielle Hollinrake daughter of Tim & Jami Hollinrake sponsored
by Spahn & Rose Lumber
--Paige Lamphere daughter of Tom & Dawn Lamphere sponsored by
Maynard Auto Service
--Elizabeth Lincoln daughter of Pat & Jeannie Lincoln sponsored by
Maynard Savings Bank
--Deidra Sieck daughter of William & Debbie Sieck sponsored by
Northeast Iowa Co-Op
An Ice Cream Social, sponsored by Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, will
follow along with Fireworks planned for DUSK at the WC Football Field.
Sit in the stands, bring your lawn chair or sit on the grass. Rain date
for fireworks is Saturday night.
A teen dance will be held tonight, Friday, following the fireworks,
until 12 midnight at the Maynard Community Hall. DJ music provided by
Megan & Bonnie West Admission is $1
Saturday:
6:30 - 10 a.m. Fire Station Fireman's Breakfast Craft Show & St.
Paul Luther League Bake Sale on Main Street downtown before parade.
11:00 a.m. Parade, lineup at 10:30, to have an entry call 637-2806
Activities at the City Park Saturday afternoon:
Noon - 3:30 p.m. Maidrites, hotdogs, potato salad, chips & drinks
available at food stand
1:00 p.m. Ugly Pickup Contest, contact Phyllis at 637-2744 to enter
1:00-4:00 p.m. Moon Bounce for the kids & kids games on the tennis
court
Farm Olympics activities including "Cow Chip" toss for the kids &
Hay Bayle toss for the grown ups
CAR SMASH--$1 buck for 3 hits of a sledgehammer to old car, one side
John Deere green, other side International Red
Corn Count contest (can you guess how many are in the jar?)
Maynard Fire Dept. will be having their Water Balloon launch near the
campground area
2:00 p.m. DOG SHOW, talent & costume contest was such a hit last
year it is returning. Please call 637-2363 to place entry.
9:30 p.m. Centerfield Lounge--Fearless Overstreet Band
Sunday activities in the park:
10:30 a.m. Community Church Service
12 Noon: Boy Scout Dinner at the food stand
1:00 p.m. Flag burning ceremony performed by the American Legion
assisted by the Boy Scouts (please take worn, tattered flags to the
Maynard Savings Bank by Friday to drop off)
